NKF Saga

Perhaps most of you will be expecting a long tirade from me about the whole issue of NKF, but there isn't one.

The past week for me has been just spending hours trying to navigate myself through the scores of articles dedicated to this common Singapore controversy. I've definitely felt the anger rising in me as I read about how public money has been spent so callously, even though I'm not a donor of NKF. But I am rather proud at how, for the first time in Singapore history, people power have prevailed. The tremendous uproar, the intensity of emotions and the drastic actions of cancelling their donations have ultimately caused Durai and his team of executives to step down. It is definitely a victory worth celebrating, to see justice served.

I've read my friend's blog on this matter and he gives a very impressive analysis on the whole issue. The post is a bit long but it's worth it. He addresses many points which the NKF supporters throw up, and approaches them in a very logical, sensible manner. And well, he's not on the dean's list of law school for nothing. Do read if you're interested in this whole saga.

wat title? (sorry i dun have the habit of posting titles on blogs)

Ok i know i posted this on the emails, but since i'm Really bored, i've decided to post this on the blog too, just to liven things up abit more arnd here. Hehz.

Anyway, as i told yihui during lunch tt day, i was going to m'sia to visit a medium. M'sia relative suggested we have the medium summon my granny's spirit and talk to her. Its called Qian Hun, or holding the hand of the spirit. Very X-files. Anyway, it was done on sunday morning, basically the Xian Gu sits on what looked like a budget dragon seat (cuz it had 4 mini-dragon heads sticking out from it) and after yawning multiple times(n i thot at 1st tt she just woke up, looked darn un-pro. haha) asks her assistant some questions. Regretfully my understanding of dialect languages sucks n i duno wat the heck they were saying.

But anyway, qns asked, then she does some ultra-man hand signs, then covers her face with a handkerchief. She grabs a handful of rice in front of her and flings it onto the floor. Then she turns around n starts talking to my relatives who were seated beside her. (I was somewhere further behind cuz there were 15 of us in the small room.) Voice remains tt of the xian gu, eyes shut throughout. Grandma was unable to identify us, as what the assistant briefed us earlier on. But after the whole thing, mum was saying tt there were some things tt sounded pretty true la. Shan't go into details as dirty linen shld not be washed on the net. But other stuff seemed fake. Like when my relatives asked granddad to 'appear' (he passed away 20 yrs ago), he was rather angry tt we haven't summoned him for 20 yrs. Tt praying wasn't enuff, must be summoned. Sounds like the Xian Gu needs the money from the summoning rite? Duno la. Anyway, quite cool. Mum was kinda worried at 1st, but was happy in the end.

Yea tts about it lo. When coming back into singapore, the checks at the singapore causeway checkpt were damn long la, prob. cuz of the london bombing. Sheesh. Take a bunch of bombings by some #@$%$#^@@ to screw up the lives of everyone around the world. Darn the terrorists.

And lastly. Think we're donating Too much to the N*F. Sheesh.
